Course

         This course central goal is for students to understand how our country came to be and to prepare each student for reading, writing, and oratorical skills for high school. In this course students will study United States History from 10,000 years ago – 1875.  The course begins by reviewing geography, and the first humans.  Then we will study how Native Americans, Africans, and Europeans reached the United States.  We will focus on how our country was created, why, and the things our nation has had to overcome by looking at these 5 major Historical Events.

1.    Geography/ Native Americans

2.    American Revolutionary War (1763 – 1783)

3.    Americas Founding Documents (Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, etc.; 1763 – 1783)

4.    Native American History and Removal (1783 – 1850)

5.    Civil War (1860 – 1865)

6.    Abolitionist Movement and Reconstruction (1850 – 1875)
